Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most widely performed cosmetic treatments used across Australia. Anti-wrinkle injections are used to prevent and reduce the appearance of wrinkles caused by the movement of our muscles in the face. The injections work by blocking signals between the nerves and muscles which prevents the muscles from contracting and forming lines on the surface of the skin.
What areas can be treated with anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle treatments can be injected into several areas of the face including the forehead, frown lines, around the eyes (crows feet), jaw line, and chin. We use a fine needle and have different brands available to use in the clinic which will be discussed with you at consultation.
The number of anti-wrinkle injections required will vary depending on the depth of the wrinkles and the size of the treatment area. Every individual is different.
How long will the treatment take?
Anti-wrinkle injections are performed as a ‘lunchtime procedure’. This means they will rarely require much 'down time' and are performed in the clinic. After your initial consultation, the treatment can take as little as a couple of minutes.
Anti-wrinkle injections will last anywhere from 3 to 4 months.
Are there any reasons why I can’t have anti-wrinkle injections?
As with most cosmetic procedures, women who are currently pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive are not suitable candidates. People with a known sensitivity to the active ingredients in are not suitable, nor are people with certain medical conditions.
Your past and present medical history, as well as your past cosmetic history, will be assessed at consultation to determine your suitability.
